Dalent Medical was born from the vision of an ENT surgeon, who saw the need and opportunity to introduce new, innovative, versatile and lower cost alternatives to current products being offered or used in the market to treat those suffering from Chronic Sinusitis. It was from this vision that the first product was developed and the formation of Dalent Medical became a reality.
In 2014, Dr. Agustin Arrieta saw an opportunity to address traditional balloon sinus dilation (BSD) surgeries with a more versatile device while simultaneously reducing cost to the procedures and the facilities where they were being performed. In the words of Dr. Arrieta…
“The Dalent Medical Sinusleeve was conceived as a simple solution for balloon sinus dilation. The concept started after performing a combined functional endoscopic sinus surgery with balloon sinus dilation (commonly known as a hybrid case). The number of instruments, packaging and cables opened for the procedure was unimaginable. Reflecting on the surgery, resulted in an echoing of the maxim, there must be an easier way. More specifically, there must be a simpler way to combine the advantages of balloon dilation with current sinus instrumentation which are utilized on an everyday basis. The idea of a balloon on a sleeve which allowed a surgeon the capability of converting their “favorite” instrument into a balloon dilation instrument was born.”
The result, was an almost four-year long journey to develop the Sinusleeve™, a new product class but built around proven balloon sinus technology. The Sinusleeve is the world’s first balloon sinus dilation sleeve in the ENT space with a unique and universal design providing surgeons with the ability to use the same device on multiple sinuses using existing suction instruments and other rigid access instruments to access the frontal, maxillary and sphenoid sinuses. This ability to use one device with such a wide array of instruments, where surgeons already have a high degree of familiarity and comfort, while also allowing for increased functionality, often at much lower cost, is a break through and new option not previously offered.
Now, with the numerous patent pending Sinusleevetm, Dalent Medical shares a vision dedicated to offering innovative, quality and versatile products by providing better solutions for physicians and their patients with sinus related conditions to restore health and well-being.
The Dalent Medical team is a diverse group of founders, investors and innovators committed to providing better solutions for physicians and patients who suffer from sinus related conditions to restore health and well-being.
